Probably most flowers were wild at one point or another. This category includes flowers that were grown in hothouses or greenhouses and sold at a nursery or flowershop.

Animals, Birds, Reptiles, Butterflies and other variety of Insects......which were captured photographically in their own environment and not in a zoo or enclosed sanctuary. It is always a very special occasion to be allowed to see our fellow travelers on this planet up close & personal.

Celebrating my birthday down at Phantom Ranch was a wish that was fulfilled by a wonderful Xanterra employee named Patrick. These photos are snapshots of that trip. Looking at the Canyon from the bottom up is quite inspirational.....met many wonderful travellers along the way.....wish I had more of their photos.....

This year's title was "ROCKS, WIND, WATER and TIME" .... I had the good fortune to visit National Parks not yet traversed.....what a thrill....Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain, Great Sand Dunes, White Sands and the Padre Island National Seashore. I also was introduced to the Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA. Hopefully that area will be preserved as a National Monument or Park (see Outdoor Photography's June 2010 issue). The photographs are my best attempt to capture their beauty through my eyes, but definitely seeing the "real thing" is the joy....photos are the brain teasers to bring back the memory of their beauty & majesty. Thank you again to my dear friend, traveling companion & husband, Roger Brewer for being my personal Sherpa and supporter -

Photography West is the photo club I belong to in my community of Sun City West, AZ. There are many talented photographers in the club so it was a bit daunting to put together this show, as it was my very first. In the end, I was delighted with the reception and joy I had exhibiting my work. The show ran from December 14th 2007 through January 3rd 2008.

I usually find myself here on Sunday mornings. It's a beautiful park part of the Maricopa County Park System, about 30 minutes from my home. Many Saguaro and other species of cactii. When we're lucky enough to have winter rain the wildflowers are wonderful. During seasonal heavy rainfall, accumulated water tends to rush rapidly through the steep canyons, over time scouring out a number of depressions or "tanks" in the white granite near the base of the mountains. These white "tanks" are the source of the park's name.

On this trip we encountered rain & fog coming up the valley and across the mesa. As we were walking to Mesa Arch everyone coming from the arch encouraged us to turn around, "that you can't see a thing". I had never been to this Arch & since we were there might as well continue just to see what we could see....well the fog cleared and there it was, Mesa Arch. In the background you can see Washerwoman Mesa in profile.
